about

I seek to use illustration as a tool to amplify the narratives of the underrepresented. As a queer illustrator, my journey is deeply rooted in the belief that art has the ability to foster empathy, understanding, and social change.

In recent years, we have witnessed an alarming rise in anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, reflected in the form of discriminatory legislation and ongoing harm inflicted upon queer communities. In response, I have committed my artistic endeavors to serve as both a sanctuary and a weapon, hoping to utilize representation as a way to remind the world that queer creators have always existed and we will persevere.

Embracing queer expression, my work becomes a form of resistance and defiance. It is a celebration of diversity, a rejection of conformity, and a testament to the beauty that arises from embracing one's authentic self.

process

In my current work, I attempt to use an iterative process to break down subjects and ideas into component forms before rebuilding them. This process begins with digital sketching to determine composition, transferring the composition to a paper and ink to develop value structure, then adapting the value sketch to a final medium to render the full artwork. The process itself is one of creating understanding - the journey more relevant than the destination.

As an artist, I am driven by a passion for education and empowerment. I believe in the transformative power of art to educate, inspire, and shape perspectives. Through my illustrations, I strive to empower learners of all ages to become civic-minded individuals, fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy towards those who have been historically marginalized.

  • My focus as an illustrator has been helping community-centric organzaions tell their stories visually. As such, I’ve partnered with non-profts like the STL Ending Domestic and Sexual Violence Network, Herb Kohl Philanthropies, SARA, and Purposity.

Other clients include school districts and professional organizations suc as MOSPRA, NSPRA, NSPN, District 113, Brentwood Schools, Eau Claire School District, and Education Plus.
